Lakers’ James out vs. Nuggets; Kuzma available

LOS ANGELES — Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James missed his first game of the season Sunday, a 128-104 loss to the Denver Nuggets that was the Lakers’ third consecutive defeat.

The Lakers revealed Saturday that James was dealing with a thoracic muscle strain — a pull in the rib cage area — that he sustained earlier in the week against the Indiana Pacers and then played through against the Milwaukee Bucks on Thursday.
